Τakis: Cosmos In Motion
During SNF Nostos, the exhibition that was launched end of June at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens featuring iconic sculptures by renowned Greek artist Takis (Panagiotis Vassilakis, 1925-2019) will continue. The exhibition takes place in collaboration with the Takis Foundation – Research Center for the Art and the Sciences (K.E.T.E) and with support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
Entitled Τakis: Cosmos in Motion, the exhibition presents 46 representative works by the well-known sculptor in the SNFCC’s outdoor areas, affirming the importance of art in public space. The exhibition offers a new look at the artist’s major works for younger generations, but also a new approach to the importance of his work for those who are already familiar with it.
Featured works include the Light Signals and the Signals Archimedes Screw from the emblematic Aeolians, the Signals Fireworks, as well as representative works by the Musicals, the Magnetic Wall-The 4th Dimension, the Spirals, the Electrical Barrels, the Flowers and the Spheres. Together, but also individually, they create worlds in motion, worlds that visitors can explore and connect with. The exhibition traces the artist’s engagement with the laws of nature to detect the cosmic forces of the universe, making invisible forces visible.
The exhibition will run until November 7, 2021.
During SNF Nostos, the exhibition may be modified due to the festival’s needs. More information will be announced shortly.
Details of the program are likely to change in accordance with the latest COVID-19 health measures.
