Starting today and for seven days, runners from all over Greece lace up their sneakers and run from wherever they are to support the local hospitals. We’ll keep our distance, but cover greater ones, always together and always for a good cause! Run you own 5-km route, between Monday, June 15 and Sunday, June 21, alone, with family or friends, and support 81 Greek hospitals.
This summer, the SNF Run comes back at the Summer Nostos Festival RetroFuture Edition and goes virtual while keeping its charitable mission.
Joining in is easy. Follow these four simple steps:
- Download the Sporthive Live (MYLAPS Sporthive Live Events) app on your mobile device and register for free. In the registration form, you can choose from the list to support your local hospital, if you wish.
- Run or walk your route, between Monday, June 15 and Sunday, June 21, and record your performance on the fitness app of your choice (e.g. Runkeeper, Nike Run Club, Garmin, etc.) or on your smartwatch.
- After your run, take a picture of your smartphone or your smartwatch and upload it to the Sporthive Live app along with your race number.
- Don’t forget! If you want, post a selfie on social media using the hashtag #SNFRun.
The recommended minimum optional contribution for participating in the race is €5, which will go towards supporting your choice of one of 81 hospitals across Greece. Your donation will go even further with the additional contribution of twice as much again from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), tripling the total amount given to hospitals.

The charitable race will wrap up on Sunday, June 21. On the evening of International Olympic Day, June 23, at 21:30 (GMT+3), announcement of the Virtual SNF Run results will be streamed during a Virtual SNF Run online event, featuring your best snapshots from the race. The event will be hosted by iMEdD Managing Director, SNF DIALOGUES Executive Director, and journalist Anna-Kynthia Bousdoukou.
*Runners participating in the Virtual SNF Run must follow all instructions given by local public authorities on exercise in outdoor public spaces.
The Virtual SNF Run is held as part of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s (SNF) Summer Nostos Festival: RetroFuture Edition. Organization of the race is supervised by nonprofit organization Regeneration & Progress and medical supervision is provided by the First Orthopedic Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
Contributions to local hospitals can be made online (via credit or debit card) through the nonprofit Regeneration & Progress, which supervises the organization of the race. Regeneration & Progress will then transfer the full amount designated to each hospital. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) will contribute double the amount donated by runners, tripling the overall amount given to hospitals. For each €5 contribution (the minimum suggested amount) from a runner, for instance, SNF will contribute an additional €10 and the hospital will receive €15.
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation is a philanthropic organization that makes grants to nonprofit organizations. SNF does not solicit or accept donations.
