Picturing Health | 75 years of progress and challenges - World Health Organization
For the first time, the history of the World Health Organization (WHO) is being presented to the public in the universal language of images. Through a collection of photographs dating from the beginnings of the organization on, the exhibition traces the WHO’s multifaceted contribution to humanity. The organization’s response to public health and humanitarian emergencies is captured through the lenses of many different photographers, each with an approach that reveals a historical moment or part of our world where the WHO has provided, or is still providing, medical, pharmaceutical, or humanitarian assistance, as well as valuable expertise.
In addition to presenting the WHO’s work, the exhibit also aspires to bring the public into more personal contact with the organization, so that its name stops sounding official and distant and instead starts calling to mind everyday human moments and scenes of life we can all identify and connect with.
The exhibition will be on display in the 4th Floor Atrium of the NLG from SNF Nostos 2023 until September 30th, 2023, with free admission for the public.
A Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) and World Health Organization / WHO production, as a part of Athens Photo World 2023.
