Across Africa, young leaders are emerging as disruptors, civic innovators, and community organizers who are reshaping governance, accountability, and participation. From pushing for transparency in public finance to pioneering digital tools for civic engagement, these leaders are demonstrating what it means to design for systemic change. Their bold approaches often challenge conventional power structures and inspire fresh thinking on what responsive, people-centered governance looks like.

This session is rooted in the recognition that Africa’s future cannot be shaped without the ideas and courage of its youth. At ONE, we work across the region to support youth leaders, including through the ONE Champions Programme, to influence civic spaces, strengthen accountability, and advocate for systemic reforms in health, education, and economic justice. This fireside talk aligns with that mission: creating a platform for African youth leaders to share lived experiences, amplify their disruptive ideas, and exchange lessons on civic leadership and systemic change.

The session aims to:

•    Elevate the voices and experiences of youth disruptors who are reshaping civic and governance spaces in their countries.

•    Highlight bold, community-driven solutions that are shifting power, building accountability, and achieving tangible results.

•    Foster peer learning and inspiration among youth leaders, supporters, and policymakers by sparking dialogue on courage, creativity, and systemic change.

•    Showcase ONE’s ongoing work with youth in Africa as part of a wider movement to support next-generation civic leadership.
