Andrew So
Executive Director of South Bronx United
Andrew So co-founded South Bronx United in 2009. In the 17 years he has served as Executive Director, the organization has grown into a comprehensive youth development and community nonprofit reaching nearly 2,000 children and young adults annually. South Bronx United’s programs combine academic enrichment, college prep, mentoring, workforce development, immigration legal services, and other youth and family services with soccer. In 2020, the organization was recognized with the Laureus Sport for Good Award at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Berlin, Germany. South Bronx United has also been recognized by the US Soccer Foundation, US Youth Soccer, and Yield Giving, among others. Previously, Andrew taught mathematics and special education in the Bronx, served as an instructional coach in other New York City public schools, and worked in other youth-serving capacities. He is a former chair of the Bronx Nonprofit Coalition and a former trustee of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League, the United States’ oldest youth soccer league. Andrew holds an MSEd from the Bank Street College of Education in New York and a Bachelor’s Degree in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University.
