IBM Global Leader on Responsible AI and AI Governance

Francesca Rossi is an IBM Fellow and the IBM Global Leader for Responsible AI and AI Governance.

She is based at the T.J. Watson IBM Research Lab in New York. Before joining IBM in 2015, she was a professor of computer science at the University of Padova.

Her research interests focus on AI, with special focus on neuro-symbolic AI, cognitive architectures, and AI value alignment. She has deep experience in AI governance and best practices for corporate AI ethics and risk assessment, acting as co-chair of the IBM Responsible Tech board and working on these topics with many multi-stakeholder global organizations, such as the World Economic Forum, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and the Partnership on AI. She is the past president of the Association for the Advancement of AI (AAAI). She is an AAAI fellow, a European Association for Artificial Intelligence fellow, and a Radcliffe fellow.
