Founder and Executive Director of Gambia Participates

Marr is a policy advocate and governance researcher by profession. He is the founder of Gambia Participates (GP), a leading civil society organization in The Gambia that focuses on promoting good governance using research and participatory methodologies within and outside The Gambia. Marr also serves as the Chair of the Common Africa Position Paper on Asset Recovery Civil Society Network, a continental network of civil society and international organizations working on anti-corruption, illicit financial flows, and asset recovery.

As an Anti-Corruption Advocate, Marr has received prestigious Anti-Corruption Awards, which include the 2024 US State Department Internation Anti-Corruption Champions Award and the 2025 Sheikh Tamin Bin Hamad Al Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award.

Marr has led successful policy advocacies, a highlight of which is the legislation of The Gambia Anti-Corruption Act in 2023 for which he led the advocacy for over five years. He has also led GP in two successful constitutional strategic litigations in 2021 on separation of powers and rule of law.
