Dr. Phoebe Koundouri (MPhil/PhD, University of Cambridge) is a world-leading economist pioneering systems for the sustainable interaction of nature, economy, and society. She is Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business, Visiting Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences and Senior Research Fellow at Peterhouse, University of Cambridge. Ranked among the top 1–2% of scientists globally, she has authored 19 books, 650 publications, and led 100 international projects in 120 countries. She is Co-Chair of the UN Global Sustainable Development Report 2027, President of the World Council of Environmental and Resource Economists Associations, Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network Global Climate Hub, Co-Chair of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Europe, and Director of the Alliance of Excellence for Research and Innovation on Αephoria. A fellow of multiple academies and a member of the committee for the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics, she has received the ERC Synergy Grant and numerous awards, including from the Academies of Athens and Cyprus for her overall scientific contributions.
