At a time of deep division in the United States and around the world, there remains broad agreement on fundamental values such as decency, respect, and compassion. Although the two participants represent institutions inspired by leaders from different political parties, their conversation looks beyond politics—and beyond national borders—to explore the kind of leadership needed to uphold and advance these shared principles. How can we bring people together across differences? How can we cultivate leaders who understand that public service begins with serving others?
