Amanda McClelland
Senior Vice President of Primary Health Care and Prevent Epidemics at Resolve to Save Lives
Amanda McClelland has spent more than two decades on the frontlines of global health emergencies, from food insecurity crises in the Sahel to natural disasters across the Pacific and Southeast Asia, to outbreaks of yellow fever, cholera, Ebola and COVID-19. After years in the field, she shifted her focus to drive systems-level change, working to make the entire health security ecosystem better prepared to prevent and respond to the next epidemic.
At Resolve to Save Lives, Amanda leads the Primary Health Care and Prevent Epidemics programs, bridging evidence, policy and implementation to strengthen health systems worldwide. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her team protected health care workers, mobilized rapid response funds across 23 countries and strengthened the primary health care systems communities depend on in crises.
Amanda has published widely, with writing featured in CNN, STAT News and Think Global Health, and is the author of Emergencies Only, a memoir on leadership and decision-making at the frontlines of global crises. Her work during the 2014 Ebola epidemic earned her the Florence Nightingale Medal for exceptional courage.
