Deputy Minister of Health of the Hellenic Republic, neurosurgeon 

Marios Themistocleous is a neurosurgeon and Greece’s Deputy Minister of Health, responsible for the operation, reorganization, and modernization of the country’s public hospitals. He combines extensive clinical experience with an active role in the design and implementation of public health policies.

He studied medicine at the University of Athens and specialized in neurosurgery and pediatric neurosurgery, having worked in hospitals in Greece and the United Kingdom. Since 2019, he has served in positions of responsibility at the Ministry of Health, contributing to reforms aimed at strengthening the resilience and efficiency of the national health system.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, in his role as Secretary General, he played a pivotal role in the design and implementation of the national vaccination program, a complex undertaking supported by digital infrastructure and data utilization. Today, he focuses on transforming the hospital sector, strengthening the workforce, upgrading infrastructure, and advancing the digitization and innovation of health services.
