Miquel Pons i Serra

Miquel Pons i Serra holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He is a specialist in Rheumatology with a diploma in Clinical Management and Organization of Healthcare Services (EADA) and training in Clinical Bioethics.

He began his career as a rheumatologist at Hospital Comarcal Sant Jaume in Calella, later moving into health care management as Medical Director in municipal, regional, and general hospitals, including Badalona Municipal Hospital (BSA), Badalona Health Services Clinical Area, and the Athaia Foundation, gaining experience in leadership.

He has participated in advisory bodies within the Catalan system, including the Technical Advisory Group of the Union of Catalan Hospitals, the Advisory Council of the Director Plan for Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases, and the Advisory Council of the Pharmaceutical Commission of the Catalan Health Service, contributing to policy and strategy.

Between 2014 and 2025 he was Medical Director of Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona and since 2021 Deputy Director. Since 2025 he has focused on this executive role. He has over 20 years of leadership experience, recognized for strategic vision and commitment to quality care.
