Olaf Egner
Artist, Founder of Seremik
Olaf Egner is an artist and Service Designer working at the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and digital technology. In 2018, he founded "Seremik" in St. Gallen, which he operates as a solopreneur, blending pottery clay with 3D printing, code, and artificial intelligence. Currently, Egner also manages the workshops at the ArchitekturWerkstatt of the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST). His work explores the boundaries of automation; he utilizes the 3D printer not as a replacement for human creativity, but as a collaborative tool to expand it. This unique approach has led to collaborations with renowned artists such as Tobias Rehberger and Yoana Tuzharova, as well as partnerships with the ZHdK Zurich, Blumer Lehmann, and Frontify. By intentionally leaving traces of manual post-processing, Egner infuses his 3D-printed ceramic works with a warmth and character that materializes the discourse between technology, time, and the human hand.
