Radio Workshop
Youth reporters and producers
Radio Workshop trains youth across Africa as radio reporters and podcasters, giving them the skills to research, interview, and broadcast on local radio stations. Through radio, podcasting, and advocacy, they create opportunities for youth-led dialogue and active citizenship in communities across the continent.
For nearly 20 years, they’ve mobilized radio—Africa’s most widely accessed medium—and the power of personal storytelling to foster empathy and inspire change. They’ve trained over 6,000 youth reporters at more than 100 radio stations across 17 African countries, reaching up to 9 million listeners weekly.
The Radio Workshop podcast, launched in 2021, has featured stories from over a dozen countries and reached more than 20 million listeners globally. Their podcast has won numerous awards, including two One World Media Awards, Best Documentary from the International Documentary Association and Gold at the Signal Awards. They’ve also been finalists at the Ambies, Third Coast International Audio Festival, the AIBs, and the New York Festivals.
